Facilitating an Energy-Sector Equity Training
Purpose
While many racial justice trainings exist, Common Spark Consulting found an absence of resources bridging racial justice (and injustice) into the energy sector.
My Role
I co-developed the curriculum, leaning into lessons from racial justice trainings, my own experience, and the experiences of our team to hone in on specific examples of racial equity and inequity within the energy sector.
Background
Energy (in)Equity is a professional training on applying a racial justice and equity lens to unveil systemic injustices perpetuated through the energy industry and what each of us can do to address these injustices through our individual and collective policy advocacy and implementation work.
Curriculum Development
We’ve hashed and rehashed the curriculum numerous times, each time flushing out the objectives and goals within this training. Two challenges developed:
determining how much to include for a limited 2-day training
balancing the opportunity for participants to practice skills versus learning concepts.
Moving Forward
We’re working on some new offerings and specialized trainings to continue learning and unlearning. Register for an upcoming training!
